Copy:  After the destruction of Hurricane Sandy, the rebuilding of the Jersey Shore began to take place across the East Coast. In Belmar, NJ a house with flood damage was purchased by the Dolan family. In order to enjoy the house, they would need to basically gut the entire thing over the process of a year, in hopes of completing it in time for the following summer. After firing their unreliable contractor, the Dolans took over the project on their own, finishing the project themselves with the help of family and friends. Ed Dolan’s goal was to make the home a place for the entire family to spend time together, making the project a true labor of love.

The transformation of the house included the reconstruction of a a few walls, brand new cabinetry, furniture, and decorations. Karen Dolan headed the interior design filling the home with embellishments that embodied the spirit of the beach and  relaxation. Family is a major theme with lots of family photos and even artwork on display around the house.

I was lucky enough to spend the summer in this beautiful home, working and living the experience that is the Jersey Shore. After the damage that came in the fall of 2012, the shore area bounced back surprisingly quick and in time for the following Memorial Day weekend. This home is only one example of the rebuilding that has occurred up and down the coastline.
